I know this is very very late, but I saw La-La Land for the first time tonight. I was NOT PREPARED for the ending and how much I would cry. Nothing in the movie's previous 120 minutes or so had made me believe that the ending would pack such an emotional wallop. But after the ending, I had a few questions. 1) Who do you think David was?
If you're going to criticize La La Land I think its how Ryan Gosling's character pretends to be the authority on "Jazz" music but he keeps calling it "Jazz" endlessly. And the way he explains it to Emma Stone's character in the "Jazz" club is incredibly simplified and truncated to fit the scene.

The first being the phrase la la land, the second almost a pun referencing the fact that it's a musical, and lastly an actual pun, because the movie takes place in LA. After seeing the movie, I thought I was right about all three, with the movie itself expanding on and connecting those themes or ideas, in both concept and story.

La La Land is about the tension between dreams and reality, between what we want and what we're capable of getting, between ambition and practicality. Stylistically, the film embodies this wholeheartedly- the old fashioned "Song and dance" vibe is consistently and intentionally undercut by moments of contemporary realism- both tones exist
Unacceptable. The thing is, yes the writers can choose whatever kind of fucking ending they wish BUT the audience has been invested in this for the last 4 fucking seasons. Almost everyone was shipping either for Otis and Maeve or Otis and Ruby at least. But the sad ending he got is really depressing.
The ending of La La Land is beautiful, simple and elegant. Emma is such a beauty! : r/popculturechat. The ending of La La Land is beautiful, simple and elegant. Emma is such a beauty! As a proud BIPOC, LGBTQ+ & woman-dominated space, this sub is for civil discussion only . I recently watched this film with my girlfriend for the first time and she absolutely hated the ending. Her words. She wanted it to be the typical happy ending and was downright distraught that they lured her into the ending where she thought they would be happy together. But Heat is better. 149. Collateral is more representative of LA than Heat though. 66. Both movies are amazing, really shows the darker side of LA more then other movies. 26. dutchmasterams •. LA was chosen as the city for Collateral due to the ambiance the High Pressure Sodium (yellow glow) lights.

I did end up buying a syrup but was going to head to Central Market later today to buy some lavender to try and make my own! I guess the purple part is kinda added bonus, the real importance should be flavor 😂 Appreciate all the responses! It’s my favorite coffee at LaLaLand but it’s dang near $7 and that was adding up
