EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM - photos, first impressions, and reviews Nov 13, 2014 The lens is starting to ship today, earlier than expected, and the images are beginning to trickle in.
I have a Canon 600D/Rebel T3i and have recently purchased the 24mm f/2.8 STM lens. It is important to note that I am a beginner. I have the switch on Manual, and have tried several ways to get it to focus and shoot the precise videos I know the 24mm is capable of on a 600D.
The Canon RF 28mm f/2.8 STM produces a heavy (4.1%), albeit not excessive, degree of barrel distortion in RAW images. As usual, auto-correction reduces the issue to a negligible degree. If you choose JPEG-only output, you can't even disable auto-correction in the camera. 28mm (corrected)

Offering a 38mm (equivalent) angle of view, this focal length may seem like a slightly odd choice for APS-C.
